![]() But, I have to type my password in all the fricken time so I would like to make my life easier and more secure at the same time.Īny input would be helpful. ![]() I do not really need to high of security. In all honesty my finger print binary could be all over the internet by now. I have never used one of these devices outside of my phone and I have no idea how my phone fingerprint reader works. And ultimately I want it to work in both windows and linux and obviously I want it to interface with a linux terminal for sudo passwords. Plus, if it uses a password I program into it it also means I can type that password in via keyboard if the sensor breaks and/or change the password whenever I want. So, I would prefer that the device only sent the password that I program into it and the device only uses my fingerprint information locally on the device ( not the PC). So, because of that I assume that if the fingerprint sensor sent my "fingerprint" in binary form then someone could access this binary and use it to hack into anything that uses my fingerprint binary. But, I assume on some level they are scanning my finger and turning different characteristics of my finger into a binary of some sort. ![]() Mint say this is the entire linux collection of programs for all known fingerprint readers, from multiple projects. I will be honest I do not entirely know how fingerprint readers work. Linux Mint sent an update out a few hours ago ' libfprint-2-2 '. So, what I would like is a fingerprint sensor that I can program to read my finger print and then it just sends a password that I program into the reader to where ever I have my curser pointed. Even in Windows it gets annoying because I tend to log out when I go away from the PC. This makes me want to use simpler passwords. In linux you tend to have to type your password A LOT. ![]() I was wondering if anyone could tell me which one of the fingerprint readers on the market work in linux?
